Summary

The <TAB> key and Mouse are non-functional during password entry and re-entry.

Description

A user making an entry into the password field cannot use either a mouse or Tab key to move to the Cancel button. Completing the entry and selecting EXIT (No Save) does not remove the password.

Status

The notebook is functioning as designed. Due to the nature of our password security, the keyboard controller interface must be dedicated 100% to the password entry and testing.

Solution

Passwords are saved immediately upon verification. To cancel an entry a user can deliberately mismatch the Password and Verification.

If there is a mismatch between entries the following message will appear

Improper Data Processed – Verify Failure of <ESC> Entered.

The user can choose OK whereupon they will return to the Security option. The user can either opt to reenter the password data or Exit.

NOTE: Once a Password is properly verified then choosing the EXIT (No Save) option will have no effect. The password will be set.

Please refer to your DIGITAL HiNote Ultra 2000 User's Guide, Chapter 4 Configuring Your Computer, Security Features for more information about the password options.
