File BG971030.IMG is an image of the DECpcXL Pentium Pro 6150 PowerGrade BIOS version 1.03. When to use: 1. If you have installed the Pentium Pro 6150 PowerGrade upgrade and the system POST displays BIOS version 1.01. 2. If you corrupt your BIOS during an attempt to uprev the Pentium Pro 6150 BIOS. 3. If your current system BIOS was newer than 1.03, you did not create a Crisis Recovery diskette, and your system failed to POST after the BIOS uprev attempt. (If you did create a CRD with a system BIOS of 1.03 or newer, use it instead). This diskette will restore your system BIOS to a generic setup using 1.03 BIOS. If you have access to only one system, steps A. and B. must be completed on this system prior to performing the Powergrade upgrade, with an upgrade kit that has E20 labelled V1.01. If you have access to another system, perform steps A. and B. on it. A. Place a formated 1.44 Mb floppy into drive A: B. From within the subdirectory that you ran BG971030.EXE, type: dosimage restore bg971030.img a: C. Place this diskette into the system that is to be restored. 1. Open your system and jumper J34 (change from off to on). 2. Turn your system on and listen for 21 high freguency tones. (you will not have video throughout these steps). 3. You will next hear a low frequency tone, followed by a high frequency tone. The BIOS has been restored at this point. The low and high frequncy tones will continue to sound until you reboot your system. Turn your system off at this time and change J34 from on to off. 4. Reboot your system and press F2; when this option is displayed during POST. Select the "Advanced Menu". Select "Reset Configuration Data". Change "No" to "YES". Save changes and exit.
