Following changes are made to Celebris GL 6xxx BIOS 1.01 to generate Celebris GL 6xxx BIOS 1.02 -- o Default set no MA wait state for 60ns SIMMs, i.e. PMC reg58<0> = 0. If the 3rd pair of memory banks are embedded, we will set the bit later. o Modify the range of I/O address of joystick device node from 200h-207h to 201h-201h. This is for fixing the bug that WIN95 joystick icon shows device not connected correctly. NOTES: If you receive an error message during the BIOS PHLASH process you may need to set J27 to the enabled the BOOT BLOCK programming. To enable BOOT BLOCK programming, locate jumper 27 (Appendix A of the System Reference manual) and jumper pins 2-3 ON. If you are running windows NT you may need to disable plug & play in cmos setup for proper on-board network card operation. Celebris GL 6xxx BIOS Update Utilities ======================================================== The Celebris GL 6xxx BIOS Update Utilities consists of two diskettes: The System Flash Utility Diskette - used to update the BIOS The Crisis Recovery Diskette - used to restore the BIOS The System Flash Utility Diskette contains the following files: COMMAND.COM AUTOEXEC.BAT CONFIG.SYS DRVSPACE.BIN IO.SYS MSDOS.SYS BIOS.ROM PHLASH.EXE PLATFORM.BIN README.TXT (this file) RELEASE.TXT LICENSE.TXT The Crisis Recovery Diskette contains the following files: MINIDOS.SYS PHLASH.EXE PLATFORM.BIN BIOS.ROM README.TXT (this file) LICENSE.TXT It should be noted that the Crisis Recovery diskette is only used for "RECOVERY MODE", and should not be used to flash the BIOS under DOS. Always use the same BIOS version when using the Crisis Recovery program, i.e., if your original BIOS is version 1.00, only use the Crisis Recovery version 1.00 to recover, not a later version. BIOS UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS The System Flash Diskette is programmed to automatically flash the BIOS. Simply inset the disk into the diskette drive and restart. If you perfer to manually flash the BIOS, follow these instructions: Inset the System Flash Utility Diskette and restart system. When the message, "Loading MSDOS" appears just after the system splash screen, press the F8 key to bypass the "autoexec.bat" startup file. Once the system is finished booting, from the A:\> prompt, type the following command to begin the PHLASH process: PHLASH /[options] BIOS.ROM Where BIOS.ROM is the file name of the new BIOS. /[options] /? = list of options /mode=3 will upgrade BIOS and clear the DMI settings. This is the normal mode /V = verify each block after programming /PF="BB" will upgrade BIOS including the Boot-Block (case sensitive) ** /PF="ESCD" will upgrade BIOS including the ESCD (Extended System Configutarion Data) - not normally used (case sensitive) ** The Jumper J-27 on the motherboard MUST be jumpered to enable (pins 2 and 3 jumpered) "Boot Block Programming" Eample: PHLASH BIOS.ROM will upgrade the BIOS but not the Boot-Block or ESCD. PHLASH /PF="BB" BIOS.ROM will upgrade the BIOS including the Boot-Block. PHLASH /PF="ESCD" BIOS.ROM will upgrade the BIOS including ESCD. Please run PHLASH/? for other options. *** WARNING *** The boot block data is very important for BIOS, If the PHLASH fails, the boot block can be destroyed and can't be recovered by the Crisis Recovery diskette. Therefore, the option /PF="BB" is a dangerous operation. Don't use this option unless it is necessary. RECOVERY MODE In the event that the BIOS is corrupted or the flash program did not properly work, it may be necessary to run the Crisis Recovery program. Perform the following steps: 1. Turn off power 2. Remove the System Cover 3. Locate Switch Block 1 (refer to System Reference manual). Switch Block 1 consists of 8 individual switches - 1 through 8 4. Move individual switch number 6 from OFF to ON 5. Insert the Crisis Recovery diskette into the Floppy drive 6. Turn on power- the Recovery program will now run and restore the system BIOS 7. When recovery is complete (see NOTE), power off the system, set switch 6 to the OFF position, remove the Crisis Recovery diskette, replace the system cover, and turn power back on. NOTE: When the Crisis Recovery program is running there will be no display. Instead a series of beeps will signal that the program is running. There will be two sets of beeps - each set is about 20 beeps. The recovery process is complete when a final, long beep is heard.
