d i g i t a l Quantum IDE Drives Greater then 2.1GB _____________________________________________________________________ Installation Guide These instructions are for Quantum drives only! Some systems may lock up or incorrectly identify hard drives greater than 2.1GB. If your BIOS does not AUTODETECT these drives properly, follow the steps below to install the drives using Ontrack Disk Manager. This software is not provided by Digital, but is available for free download from Quantum's BBS (1-800-472-9799) or WWW site at http://www.quantum.com/support/menus/drvutil.htm. Check Quantum's home page in case this pointer changes. This software is provided by Quantum for their customers. The software must be licensed from Ontrack Computer Systems, Inc., 6321 Bury Drive, Suites 15-19, Eden Prairie, Minnesota 55346. 1. Power down system and remove all power cables. 2. Remove system cover, locate the 40-pin ribbon cable going to the hard drive and remove it (refer to User Guide for instructions). 3. Restore power, turn on system, and enter BIOS Setup (refer to User Guide for instructions) 4. Locate the IDE adapter your drive will be connected to and set to USER DEFINED. Enter the following values: 1024 cylinders, 16 heads, and 63 sectors (refer to User Guide for instructions). Save the settings, power down system and remove all power cables. 5. Reconnect the 40-pin ribbon cable to the drive. Restore power and turn on system. 6. Locate the README and INSTALL.TXT files in the driver package and follow the instructions for installing the Ontrack software.
