---------------------------------------------------------- Instructions for installation of SCO OpenServer MDI driver ---------------------------------------------------------- Driver Revision: v3.2.0a Specification Revision: MDI Version 1.0 Software Requirements: SCO OpenServer v5.0.2 SCO Advanced Hardware Supplement v5.2.0 Hardware Requirements: One or more (up to 8) of the following adapters - DEC FDDIcontroller/EISA (All models and revisions) DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI (All models and revisions) To install the driver: 1. Copy femdi320.dd file to your local UNIX drive. 2. Enter the following command to transfer the kit onto a UNIX formatted 3 1/2" floppy: # dd if=femdi320.dd of=/dev/rfd0135ds18 bs=18k 3. Run custom(ADM) utility and select "Software", followed by "Install New...". 4. When prompted, select the local host machine to install from. 5. When prompted, select Floppy Disk Drive 0 as the media device. 6. When prompted for installation preference, select "Full". The driver files will be copied and installed on your system. Select "Host" followed by "Exit" to leave the utility. To add adapter hardware: 1. Be sure that driver is already installed. 2. Run netconfig(ADM) utility and select "Hardware", followed by "Add new LAN adapter". 3. When prompted, select the Digital FDDI controller to install. 4. When prompted, select the networking product (protocol stack) to add to the adapter. 5. Configure the networking product as needed. If configuring TCP/IP, you must select "Advanced Options..." from the SCO TCP/IP Configuration menu, then change the Frame Format from Ethernet-II to 802.n. 6. Select "OK" to leave the networking product configuration menu and return to the main menu. 7. Select the Digital FDDI controller you just configured, then select "Hardware" followed by "Modify hardware configuration". 8. When the Network Driver Configuration menu appears, select "Advanced Options...". 9. Change the Source Routing Support keyword from "auto" to "none". This will disable source routing and allow your networking protocol to function properly. 10. Select "OK" to leave the network driver configuration menu and return to the main menu. 11. Select "Hardware" followed by "Exit" to leave the utility. When prompted, relink the kernel, then reboot the system to load the new driver.
