DEFEA has NXM errors when NORTON ANTIVIRUS NLM is loaded Problem: The NORTON ANTIVIRUS .NLM performs a read-modify-write operation on system memory that can impact device drivers. Symptom: When the customer loads the latest version of the DEFEA Novell drivers, the system experiences non-existent memory errors. Solution: Reverse the order of the software drivers. Load the NAV.NLM first then load the DEFEA driver. Background: The NAV.NLM does a read-modify-write operation to system memory when it is checking for viruses. This memory operation can cause unpredicted behavior in Bus Master DMA adapters such as the DEFEA. By loading the DEFEA driver after the utility checks the memory, modifications to the DEFEA driver memory space are avoided.
