Please find pointers to the new code, as well as instructions for the upgrade below. If you encounter problems during the upgrade process, please contact your Digital Service Representative for assistance. ***************************************************************** **** GIGAswitch/IP Software Upgrade Pointers and Procedure******* ***************************************************************** Note that you will need access to an ftp server to use during this upgrade procedure. 1. Obtain the upgrade kit. This kit may be obtained from The following sources: Via the Internet: http://www.networks.digital.com/dr/gigaip/ The upgrade kit is distributed as a single file, with the name ipsod.tgz. where is the version of the software. For example: ipso115d.tgz is version 1.1.5 of the software. NOTE: The file ipso115d.tgz should be renamed to ipso-1_1_5-D.tgz after it is pulled over the net. 2. Log into the system to be upgraded using the username 'root'. You may log into the system remotely using TELNET, or you may attach a VT series compatible terminal to the console port of the system. 3. Create a temporary directory for the kit using the mkdir command as follows: # mkdir /kit # cd /kit 4. Use ftp to copy the upgrade kit to the system. Ensure that you use binary mode of ftp to copy the file to the system. For example: # ftp foo.com Connected to foo.com. 220 foo.com FTP server ready. User (foo.com:(none)): anonymous 331 Anonymous login okay, send ID as password Password: 230 User anonymous logged in. ftp> bin 200 Type set to I. ftp> get ipso115d.tgz 200 PORT command successful. 150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for ipso115d.tgz 226 Transfer complete. ftp> quit # 5. The file you have copied is a compressed archive file. DO NOT uncompress the file, or unpack the archive. The software upgrade process will do this for you automatically. ** this is the point at which the .tgz file should be renamed as noted in #1 above. 6.
