EtherWORKS 3 TURBO Software Distribution Kit Release Notes ========================================================== V2.53 13-OCT-1997 1. EtherWORKS 3 TURBO Windows NT driver V2.0 does NOT support running the card in EISA mode. The EtherWORKS 3 card should be left in ISA mode when running on EISA machines. There is no performance degradation when the card is configured for ISA mode. 2. EtherWORKS 3 TURBO Windows NT driver V2.0 does NOT support Windows NT V3.1. 3. If updating the EtherWORKS 3 NDIS 3.0 driver under Windows NT 3.5 from a previous driver installation, do NOT use the "Update" button under Network Settings. Windows NT 3.5 and 3.51 currently only scans for OEMSETUP.INF files, not the OEMSETNT.INF used on this installation diskette. Microsoft has informed Digital that this will be fixed in a future revision of Windows NT. Until then, perform the following steps to update the driver: 1. Remove all adapter instances. Highlight "DEC EtherWORKS 3 Adapter" and click the "Remove" button. Repeat for each Adapter instance. 2. Click "OK" and reboot the machine when prompted. 3. After rebooting, click "Add Adapter" and select the OEM adapter installation option. Place the driver diskette in the floppy drive and reinstall the driver. 4. Configure each adapter, click "OK" and reboot the machine when prompted. 4. If a kit is obtained from the Network BBS, Internet or WWW, unZIP the kit using the -d switch so that subdirectories are properly created. Also make sure the kit is unZIPped to the ROOT directory of a diskette so that the original directory structure is maintained. **************************************** * DRIVER VERSIONS ON THIS DISTRIBUTION * **************************************** EZWORKS EZWORKS.EXE V2.11 04-26-96 189,024 bytes compressed file, automatically expands in memory when run, memory needed is approx 360,000 bytes EZWORKS/EWRK3 Diagnostics RAMDIAG.COM V1.11 11-07-95 27,841 bytes LINUX Included in Linux kernels V1.1.61 or greater. Added NDIS3 driver to win95 directory. [Changes from V2.51 to V2.52] o New EtherWORKS 3 packet driver V1.05: - Make driver Y2K (year 2000 safe). - Fix bug when in Promiscuous mode. - Fix timing issue (upon initial loading of driver) with certain PC's. o New CUSTOM.DST for SCO Unix MDI Device Driver. - fixes error in recieve routine that caused kernel panic and/or TCP errors on fast or heavily loaded machines. o New NDIS2 drivers (ewrk3.dos and ewrk3.os2) - Enhance driver to operate in true 32K and 64K modes. Previously, the driver had operated in 2K mode regardless of the adapter setting. For most environments, this is the best mode to use (most network buffers and least shared memory footprint with no performace impact). For remote boot environ- ments, this caused a problem with warm boot operation, that exhibited itself with local boot on ctl-alt-del. With this new version of the NDIS2 driver (v3.09), system will remote boot on ctl-alt-del, if the remote boot rom is present and enabled. [Changes from V2.5 to V2.51] o New EtherWORKS 3 MDI driver(V1.0.2) for SCO OpenServer 5. See \sco\readme.txt for further details. o Newly certified EtherWORKS 3 NetWare DOS ODI Client and Server drivers.
