TITLE: Procedure for Firmware Upgrade on Module with corrupted image ------------------------------------------------------------- PROBLEM: How do I determine if the Main Image is corrupted and what is the procedure to upgrade? SOLUTION: In the event the main image is corrupted the module will enter the primitive load state. Upon power up or reset the selftest LED will immediately begin flashing green. Power LED should be on steady green. Follow the procedure below. - Make sure the boot server is setup correctly and contains the image files and correct table entries. - Connect a cable from a repeater or bridge with access to the boot server to the primitive load port (single port in the top of the module) on the VNswitch module. The cable has to be a straight through if it comes from a repeater, or a crossover if it comes from a non-crossover DECswitch. - Within a short time, you will see the two top LED's (# ->) flashing in alternating yellow and green colors. This means the flash has been successfully loaded with the new image. - Disconnect the primitive load cable and power cycle the module. VNswitch should now go through the self test procedure and enter the operation code approximately 1.5 minutes.
