Is anyone out there building programs that run in parallel
on multi-processor Alphas running Digital Unix? We have a
4 processor AlphaServer 2100 and our DEC salesperson told
us that we could create parallel programs on it if we
bought Fortran-90. We have Fortran-90 V1.2-1120 and we
also got an evaluation license for the "Parallel Software
Environment". If I try to compile a program with the -wsf
switch, I get the error:
   ld:
   Can't locate file for: -lphpf
I think this means I'm missing the Parallel High
Performance Fortran library but I can't find such a thing
on our layered products CD. I should point out that the
release notes for Fortran-90 state that the -wsf switch is
not yet supported. I called DEC Software Support about
this and was initially told that if the release notes say
it's not supported, then it's not supported and he
couldn't say when it would be working. Another support
engineer called back the next day and told me it was
supported but we needed the Parallel Software Environment
(that's when I requested the evaluation copy of a PSE
license).
Does anyone knows if parallel programs are supported, and
if so, what licenses and packages do I need to install to
be able to compile them?
