xwdtopnm on DEC Alpha?

Dear DEC Alpha Experts:

Do you have a version of the pbmplus utilities that work on the DEC Alpha? I
get the following error message from "xwdtopnm":

   xwd -frame | xwdtopnm > file.pnm
   xwdtopnm: unknown XWD file version: 33554432

The utilities were compiled using gcc. Please note the following:

   gcc -v
   gcc version 2.6.3

   xwdtopnm -version
   xwdtopnm: Version of 10dec91
   xwdtopnm: SYSV defined
   xwdtopnm: PBMPLUS_RAWBITS defined
   xwdtopnm: RGB_DB="/usr/lib/X11"
   xwdtopnm: LIBTIFF defined

   uname -srv
   OSF1 V2.0 240

I think it has to do with the larger word size on the Alphas. Any
suggestions? I have written the author but have not had a response.
