New log file doesn't start....

Good afternoon,

     Every monday I generate reports from our NCSA HTTPD server which shows
the vital stats from our server for the last week. What I usually do is
copy the log file from the directory and the daemon usually starts a new
one. A couple of times the daemon doesn't start a new log file and the
server
keeps on running. Is there anything I can do to make sure that the daemon
"DOES" start a new log file....?
