Q: TROUBLE running "monitor" program

Hello everyone;
  I got a copy of the "monitor" program from gatekeeper.dec.com, compiled
it on DEC 3000 running osf/1 3.2. The program runs ok on all machines
except one DEC 300-400. It gave this error message:

monitor: read_kernel: Can't read from /dev/kmem: No such device or address.

But "/dev/kmem" exists on the machine, and "ls -l" reported

cr--r----- 1 root mem 2, 1 Oct 23 11:20 /dev/kmem

  Anybody encounted this problem before and any solution?
