G'day Sysadmin'ers
Today I have had my first experience with "dbx" and a core dump. We were
required
to provide some info to a software supplier about a problem. I managed to muddle
my way through, with some help from a Digital Support Rep, and get the info they
needed, I think.
Does anybody out there know of a publication (white paper etc) on the mugs guide
to analysing core dumps and their structure, tools provided either by Digital
Unix or
shareware to analyse cores.
It is frustrating in that all my reading says "don't worry about core files,
your suppliers
will analyse them for you...". But in reality they want we System
Administrators to perform
first level analysis. If a document exists it would be useful to analyse core
dumps
created by our code developers.
      Thanks,
