Basicly my question was why is the -host option giving me problems now
that I have started using netgroups in the access list?
I have begun to expect a torrent of correct answers to questions I post
here. I was somewhat concerned when I had received no answers after
several hours. But, much to my delight, the list came through again.
Many thanks to philip_at_uvo.dec.com who had the correct answer.

Putting in the Fully Qualified Domain Names solved the problem.
