Managers,
I have been doing battle with inn-1.6b3 for the last week on an
AlphaServer 800 running patched 4.0b. I have rebuilt it several times
using both gcc and DEC's compiler with out error. It just does not run. I
am also having trouble getting the system to tell me why. At this point I
feel I must be overlooking the obvious. Just running innd with the -d
flag reports nothing but returns exit code 1. (running rc.news also
returns 1)
A bit of history:
Had inn-1.5.1 running on a 3.2g system for some time.
Installed 1.5.1 on the new machine and it ran but would throttle itself
after an hour or so.
Figured a new version was in order.
Got 1.6b3, went through the snprintf issues and got it to compile using
DEC's compiler -- did not start.
Build it with GNU's compiler -- does not start.
Blew away all my history and spool files - built it again - still does not
start.
I am asking if anyone has an installation that is working that may have
solved these problems or may be able to point me in the right direction.
I have looked at the system variable and config files and have found
nothing. But at this point I have looked at them too many times to se the
obvious.
