To change login display

Hi managers,

        I would like to ask your suggestions that how can I reduce the
hostname with domain display from the login prompt. Like abc.mydomain.com
to be only "abc" at the login prompt. (hide mydomain.com) Which file I
have to deal with? Many thanks in advance.

        PS: the system usually will display fully domain name.
