Unfortunately, none of their suggestions worked for me.  I have since
installed the popmail server from the University of Washington (included
in the distribution 
ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/mail/imap.tar.Z).  As far
as I've been able to determine, this server doesn't have the security
problem recently discovered in qpopper.
