general questions

        Hi,
                2 questions :

        1 - Is there a utility that will allow me to make a global change to
a several source files
             simultaneously with 1 command ? For example, change all
occurrences of "dog"
             to "cat" ?
             Do vi,ed, or sed, provide this functionality ?

        2 - Does any know of a utility on NT that will read and process a
"compressed" file
             created on a Unix box ?
