Hi
 folks,
Just a question : I've just added a second CPU in a 4000 5-400 box running
DU 4.0b (release imposed) and both top and pmgr are reporting more than
100% of cpu load :
Here's top report (Top version 3.3, Copyright (c) 1984 through 1993,
William LeFebvre) :
load averages: 1.02, 1.50, 1.50
                                               11:53:28
98 processes: 2 running, 1 waiting, 30 sleeping, 65 idle
Cpu states: 56.2% user, 0.0% nice, 19.3% system, 24.3% idle
Memory: Real: 788M/1025M act/tot Virtual: 41M/1535M use/tot Free: 216K
PID USERNAME PRI NICE SIZE RES STATE TIME CPU COMMAND
31039 oracle 52 0 144M 32M run 52:38 100.60% oracle
For pmgr, I'm a new user and I can't give a snapshot from pmgr GUI screen
(the "save session" menu option don't gave me a readable output - any tips
are welcome).
The question is : are top and pmgr adding their cpu load or is there a way
to identify each cpu load (ie which process is running on which cpu) ? pmgr
is able to draw pie charts for each cpu, but the "top processes" output
isn't so detailed).
Another and last question : is there a way to balance/tune cpu load (other
tha nice/renice for processes) or is the operating system achiving this
task automatically ? Should I have to look for products such as Tuxedo or
TruCluster to achieve this ?
TIA,
JD
