We are trying to do RTS/CTS handshaking between two alpha
servers.We are using RS232c cable and 9 pin connectors to
connect com1 ports of the 2 alpha machines.We are using the
termios strucure present in the termios.h present in
/usr/include/sys to control the terminal attributes.
we are opening the port tty00, then we are getting the
terminal attributes using ioctl system call .then we are
setting CRTSCTS.
we are able to distingush RTS high or low by measuring
voltage between pins 7 and 5. but we are not able recognise
CTS when a external signal comes to pin 8.
We are connecting the pins in the following way
9 PIN 9 PIN
2(Rx) 3
3(Tx) 2
5(Ground) 5
7(RTS) 8
8(CTS) 7
So please clarify us on the following.
Q1: In alpha server machines how to do hand shaking of RTS CTS
in two PC's.
(i.e raising RTS in first PC,waiting for CTS from second
m/c .how to recognise CTS from external signal).
Q2: How should be the pin connections.
Q3 :Firstly,is it possible to do RTS/CTS hand shaking between
two alpha servers,if so what all settings are needed.
