Hello,
Original post is below about adding a second CPU to an AS1200. Thanks to:
Rodrigo Poblete (immediate response)
Shane Feeley
Phil Rand (get the SMP license)
        It was 3 steps:
1)	physically install the card. Have to remove one of the memory rises first.
2)	update firmware. >>>boot dka500, list, update, verify. I had 2 inputs, one
said before install, one said after.
3)	install the second OSF-BASE license. It requires one OSF-BASE license for
each CPU, the 1st for the primary, additional ones are SMP. Warning, have the
license when installing the CPU. Compaq Capitol fax's a temporary license pak
seperate from shipping the refurbished board, and then later sends a permanent
license. There was some delay in the faxing, and it required a call for it to
be sent. Meanwhile, I learned the hard way - the OSF will not allow any users
other than root to log in when it has an additional cpu without a license.
Installing the second license took the following steps:
# cd /sbin/it.d/bin --may not be necessary
# ./load_usr_pak --also, may not be necessary, only if default 4 user pak is
corrupt
# lmf
>register --take you to a vi editor
> reset
>load 0 OSF-BASE DEC $authorization_#	--do this if >lmf list shows
OSF-BASE's as enabled and not active, as they should be active.

AS1200, V4.0Dsp3, (1) 400Mhz KN307-BB
Hello,
I'm adding a second KN307-BB which looks straight forward hardware wise. It's
refurbished from Compaq Capitol (that's all I could find 15 months after the
initial purchase), so I don't know what environment it has been in. Is it
necessary or recommended to update the firmware after physically putting it in?
Any other software things to do?
I have V5.3 firmware on cdrom. Is there a website I can ftp the latest
version?
Of course, I will summarize.
