If I want to determine what patch levels different machines are at, how
does one tell?
I have some examples below fromprobing on some systems, but I'd like to
know the ways one can find what is the latest version of
patches installed on the system. It seems as if the best way is to look at
the /var/adm/patch/log/session.log file, but the Rev level displayed
via uerf must have meaning.
Is there a simple correspondence between Rev level and Patch Kit level?
Regards, and I will summarize
Bruce
On a DU V4.0d system which I believe has patch kit 3 installed, I can look
in uerf -R |more and see:
----- EVENT INFORMATION -----
EVENT CLASS OPERATIONAL EVENT
OS EVENT TYPE 300. SYSTEM STARTUP
SEQUENCE NUMBER 1.
OPERATING SYSTEM DEC OSF/1

OCCURRED ON SYSTEM nice

SYSTYPE x00000000

                                         _0x2aec000 to 0x7ff58000
                                        Digital UNIX V4.0D (Rev. 878)
Or, I can look in /var/adm/patch/log, and do a more session.log, and find
the string:
Do you want to proceed with the pre-installation check with this setup? [y]: y
KITNAME><DUV40DAS00003-19990208> OSF425
which suggests patch kit 3 for V4.0d
Or, I can do a setld -i |more and find entries like:
OSFACCT425 installed System Accounting Utilities (System
Administration)
OSFADVFS425 installed POLYCTR advfs (System Administration)
OSFADVFSBIN425 installed POLYCTR advfs Kernel Modules (Kernel Build
Environment)
OSFADVFSBINOBJECT425 POLYCTR advfs Kernel Objects (Kernel
Software Development)
etc...
On a V4.0E system, I can find:
EVENT CLASS OPERATIONAL EVENT
OS EVENT TYPE 300. SYSTEM STARTUP
SEQUENCE NUMBER 1.
OPERATING SYSTEM DEC OSF/1

OCCURRED ON SYSTEM comport3

                                         _0x898000 to 0x3fee000
                                        Digital UNIX V4.0E (Rev. 1091)
and in /var/adm/patch/log I see:
KITNAME><DUV40EAS00001-19990202> OSF435
which suggests patch kit 1 for 4.0E
or, I can do a setld -i |more and find:
