Many thanks as usual to Alan and Dr. Blinn for
responding with excellent suggestions.
The problem turned out to be the following:
On an AlphaStation XP1000, the KZPCM-DA only works in
PCI slot 0 for some reason. I just moved the
Powerstorm 350 into the next slot and put the KZPCM-DA
in slot 0. I am very relieved, needless to say, now i
can use my external drives.
