gcc V2.8.1

Hi
        Attempting gcc V2.8.1 install when I run configure I get

        checking build system type .. Invalid configuration 'alphaev6-dec.osf4.0f'
        machine alphaev6-dec not recognized.

        Anybody solve this problem ?

        I need gcc V2.8.1 to compile mysql-3.23.33. Everything works on a

      alphaev56-dec.odf4.0g
