Documentation Or Procedure For Adding A Second Disk To Alphastati on 255

I am having problems installing a second disk drive on a Alphastation 255
running Unix 4.0B. Plugged the new disk into the scsi cable, rebooted, but
the system cannot see the new drive. I assume it would be recognized as
rz1. I have ran /dev/MAKEDEV rz1 rebooted but still does not see the disk.
Can someone point me to a procedure on adding a new disk drive or provide me
the steps to install the second drive. Just to mention, my experience is
limited.
