Well, I booted to genvmunix and rebuilt the kernel but now when I try to
boot it gets to where it is trying to mount the disks. At that point I get
the following error:
panic (cpu 0 ): vfs_mountroot: cannot mount root
syncing disks...done
It then tries to reboot. Unfortunately since this is a workstation there
is no button I can push to make it halt at the >> prompt and it is stuck in
a loop. Is there a way that I can force it to halt? And then what do I do?
Original question:

found the following >question in the archives which describes my problem

nada. But I can telnet to the system so I know it's >alive.... So, I
suspect my graphics adapter. I've looked at the graphics adapter and it's
from >Number Nine Corporation but I can't find a DEC part number (it does
have an S3 Trio64 >chip - whatever that is!). The old documentation I've
got says the graphics card should be >ZLXp-E1, but I don't know if that's
what I've got. The release notes for Tru64UNIX 5.1 talks >about no support
for various PowerStorm graphics adapters...... Any suggestions?
