OK...I feel I've received enough responses to warrant a summary.  Basically, everyone agrees that the DNS should be separate from the production servers.  They also agree that DNS doesn't require too much horsepower--so a couple of old AlphaStation 200s would probably be ok with a fat internet connection (although some people suggested running on a couple of DS10 machines).
