Help with 9-track tape.

I have problems with a 9-track tape drive working on a XP1000. I can do
almost everything inside /sbin/scu including dumping the data off the tape,
but I can't do a "show page". However, outside of /sbin/scu, I cannot do
anything because if a tape is mounted and loaded, I cannot open the
/dev/rmt*h device. The drive is a Qualstar model 3410 with firmware rev
level 1.14. Any pointers in getting this drive to work are highly
appreciated.
