xauth from vms to tru64?

Hi,

Trying to using xauth instead of xhost from tru64 to bring up vms
displays on the unix box. Even if I set up XDM on vms and follow
everything to the letter, I can't find a way to use xauth from the tru64
box. (I know this question crosses both platforms...sorry) Is there
any way I can make this work? I would rather use xauth than xhost for
security reasons.
