Dear all,
I got a brand new DEC ALPHA DS10 ( proc 21264A at 600 Mhz and 1GB RAM,
Tru64 UNIX v5.1). We run FLUENT a commercial code for solving fluid
mecanic (100000
nodes calculation) on it and for comparison on a low price Intel celeron
at 800MHz (128 MB RAM - Windows 2000).
In both cases, Fluent is the only soft running and we use internal disk
for input/output. Performance on the Intel proc is about 10% better than
on the ALPHA and I am on the point to put this
ALPHA through the window!
I guess that (memory) configuration of the ALPHA might be set unwell,
but I don't know what modification to try. According to bentchmark (we
found only bentchmark for DS20 - 800MHz to compare to
PIII- 1GHz) the ALPHA station should be much more faster than the Pentium.
Thanks for your help.
