Sorry if a bit off topic but there is a good possibility that someone
of you can help -- I'm stuck trying to make spamassassin working on 4.0D.
The matter is that in the installation process the makefile is being
built by Perl, and v5.005_03 fails. It complains that I need another
MakeMaker. Then it says that is doing its best but the result is very
likely not to work. And it won't indeed... (Warning: variable $do is
not initialized... the name says for itself!). It suggests downloading
MakeMaker from CPAN site, and I've tried 2 different versions -- to no
avail... It misses on my system one thing or another and don't want to
install.
Another message in the output says that versions since 5.6 include the
proper MakeMaker. Then I looked through the versions of binaries
available for Tru64 -- and can see that it's only v5.005_03... :-( the
same as I have. But building a new version of Perl only for this purpose
is such a bore!
So, my question to those who succeeded: what version of Perl did you use?
By the way, I already use procmail instead of local mailer, and I like
what it can do in filtering mail. But I want more.
Thanks,
Irene
