DIGITAL Personal Workstation 350i/400i README.TXT Created on 09-June-1998 This README.TXT covers information that was unavailable when the DIGITAL Personal Workstation (aka: DPW) documentation was written. 1) Power On/Off Switch IMPORTANT: To turn on your workstation, momentarily press the Power On/Off switch. The workstation then boots normally. To turn off your workstation, fully depress the Power On/Off switch for four (4) seconds. Your workstation then turns off normally. 2) Drivers Permedia 2, 3DLabs driver will work only when the SP3 or higher is loaded onto the system. This is important when you install NT4.0 from CDROM. Otherwise the system will come up VGA even though the user loaded the video driver correctly. Be sure to always load SP3 before updating the video driver. Some drivers from the NT4.0 CDROM will produce undesirable effects on the DIGITAL DPW. These onboard devices should be loaded with the drivers supplied by DIGITAL on the System Software CD. Always check our Website for the latest drivers and BIOS, please visit us at : http://www.workstation.digital.com 3) Memory Guidelines Registered and unbuffered memory should not be mixed in a system. 4) High End Graphics (Powerstorm 4D51T and 4D51T GFX) If you purchased a Digital Powerstorm 4D51T graphics module, you should install this option into a primary PCI slot (2nd slot directly below the power supply). An exception to this is if you have purchased the Digital Powerstorm 4D51T GFX module. This module is part of a set, and the set should be placed in the two bottom slots in the box. 5) Multi-head support with Powerstorm 4D10T When using the Powerstorm 4D10T module with multi-heads, you should use driver version 2.0B (or greater). If you do not have this driver, please go to our web page listed above (and look under firmware/drivers, then Graphics drivers). You should always load the 4D10T driver BEFORE installing the PCI card. 6) Audio Info The Crystal sound driver is set to enable the PC speaker. To disable the PC speaker follow the links to "start\programs\accessories\multimedia\volume control\options\advanced"and insure that the mute box is checked. The PC speaker will now be disabled. ** Plugging in headphones or speakers into the workstation will NOT disable the PC Speaker 7) Acoustic Information English Version: June 2, 1998 ________________________________________________________________ Acoustics - Declared values per ISO 9296 and ISO 7779: Sound Power Level Sound Pressure Level LwAd, B LpAm, dBA (operator position) Product Idle Operate Idle Operate DIGITAL Personal Workstation 350i and 400i with: 0 x HDD 4.8 4.8 32 32 1 x 4 GB SCSI HDD 4.8 5.2 33 37 [Current values for specific configurations are available from Digital representatives. 1 B = 10 dBA.] --------------------------------------------------------------------- German Version: --------------------------------------------------------------------- Schallemissionswerte - Werteangaben nach ISO 9296 und ISO 7779/DIN EN27779: Schalleistungspegel Schalldruckpegel LwAd, B LpAm, dBA (Bediener position) Gerät Leerlauf Betrieb Leerlauf Betrieb DIGITAL Personal Workstation 350i and 400i mit: 0 x HDD 4,8 4,8 32 32 1 x 4 GB SCSI HDD 4,8 5,2 33 37 [Aktuelle Werte für spezielle Ausrüstungsstufen sind über die Digital Equipment Vertretungen erhältlich. 1 B = 10 dBA.] _____________________________________ Copyrights: Copyright Digital Equipment Corporation.
