DIGITAL: Network->Statistics

Description:

The Statistics menu entry displays transmission and reception statistics for the
interfaces present on the selected host.  The following fields are
displayed:

Interface - String describing the interface.

Receive Total Octets - Total amount of data received by this interface
in octets.

Receive Unicast Packets - Number of subnetwork unicast packets
received and delivered to a higher level protocol.

Receive Non-Unicast Packets - Number of nonunicast packets received
and delivered to a higher level protocol.

Receive Discards - Number of unknown packets received and discarded
because of unknown or unsupported protocols.

Receive Errors - Number of undeliverable packets received.

Receive Unknown Protocols - Number of unknown packets received and
discarded because of unknown or unsupported protocols.

Transmit Total Octets - Total amount of data transmitted by this
interface in octets.

Transmit Unicast Packets - Number of subnetwork unicast packets
transmitted including framing characters.

Transmit Non-Unicast Packets - Number of packets to be transmitted to
a subnetwork unicast address, including those that were discarded or
not sent.

Transmit Discards - Number of packets discarded before transmission,
even though no errors were detected.

Transmit Errors - Number of packets that could not be sent due to
error.

Transmit Packet Queue Length - Number of packets queued for
transmission.

Troubleshooting:
----------------

"Warning:  no information returned for query" - There are two possible reasons
for this message.  First, the selected object does not have a Digital SNMP agent
running.  Second, the selected object's SNMP agent does not support these
particular MIB variables.

"Cannot get SNMP table.  No response arrived before timeout" - This message
means that the request was not returned from the selected object's SNMP agent.
Possibly the SNMP agent is not running or this system is inaccessible.
