Installing and Configuring Kerberos on OpenVMS VAX Version 7.3

If you previously installed Kerberos for VAX Version 1.0 on OpenVMS 7.3, perform the following steps to upgrade Kerberos.

  1. Download the Kerberos kit from the Kerberos for OpenVMS website at

    http://h71000.www7.hp.com/openvms/products/kerberos/
  2. Expand the Kerberos kit by entering the following command:

    $ RUN HP-VAXVMS-KERBEROS-xxxx.PCSI_DCX_VAXEXE
  3. Shut down Kerberos by executing SYS$STARTUP:KRB$SHUTDOWN.COM.
  4. Remove Kerberos by entering the PRODUCT REMOVE KERBEROS command.
  5. Install the Kerberos Version kit by entering PRODUCT INSTALL KERBEROS.
  6. Add @SYS$STARTUP:KRB$SYMBOLS to SYS$MANAGER:SYLOGIN.COM, if Kerberos was not previously installed and configured.
  7. Execute KRB$CONFIGURE.COM, if Kerberos was not previously installed and configured.
  8. Start Kerberos by executing SYS$STARTUP:KRB$STARTUP.COM.

See Example 2-1 for a sample Kerberos configuration log. The configuration log is the same on OpenVMS I64, OpenVMS Alpha, and OpenVMS VAX.
