Creating OpenVMS Alpha bootable BACKUP?

» close window

The Question is:

our openvms bootable cd is missing. is there another way to run standalone
backup? we have alpha 4100, 2100, and 1000 all running ver 6.2-1h3 openvms.
thanks

The Answer is :

  "Standalone Backup is no longer part of the OpenVMS Alpha operating
  system. Please refer to the "Backing Up and Restoring the System Disk"
  appendix in the `OpenVMS Alpha Upgrade and Installation Manual' for
  more information." The documentation is currently accessable via:

    http://www.openvms.compaq.com:8000/

  Alternatives include acquiring a new bootable CD-ROM (QA-MT1AG-H8 for
  V6.2-1H3 and before, QA-MT1AD-H8 for V7.1-1H2 and before) or as part
  of your OpenVMS Alpha installation kit, or use a restored image BACKUP
  of your existing system disk (on another disk), or use the command:

    @SYS$SYSTEM:AXPVMS$PCSI_INSTALL_MIN.COM

  to create a minimal copy of the OpenVMS kit on your target disk.
