mounting OpenVMS disks on Sun Solaris? (NFS)

» close window

The Question is:

I would like to mount a VAX filesystem on a UNIX (Solaris 2.5) machine. What
configuration needs to be performed on the VAX to make this possible.

Thanks,
Jason S. Mitchell

The Answer is :

OpenVMS VAX supports various TCP/IP packages, including TCP/IP Services
  for OpenVMS (UCX).

Recent versions of UCX include support for an NFS client, while most
every version includes support for an NFS server. In this particular
case, you will likely want to use an NFS server on the OpenVMS system,
and an NFS client on the Sun Solaris system.

For information on installing and configuring UCX, please see the UCX
documentation. For other IP products, please see the respective product
documentation. And the Wizard has posted information on the particular
UCX versions supported on OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2 on at least one previous
  occasion...
