SLS and interrupt stack activity?

» close window

The Question is:

I am new to the System Manager position and the
previous manager is not avilable. We are
running SLS 2.5B and have been noticing what
seems to me to be unusual behavior. Whe backups
are running approximately 60-70 percent of the
CPU is spent in the Interrupt Stack. Is this
normal behavior or do I have a problem somewhere
I can't find.?
Thanks for your help

The Answer is :

SLS V2.5B is fairly old. Please consider an upgrade to a more recent
  version.

If this SLS version upgrade does not seem to reduce or resolve the
(apparent) excessive interrupt stack activity, please see the SLS
documentation for tuning OpenVMS for SLS, and please see the OpenVMS
performance management manual for information on tuning OpenVMS.

High interrupt stack times can potentially point to problems with the
system tuning, or potentially with the SLS or OpenVMS driver software,
or possibly with other areas or other packages.

If these steps do not resolve your particular problem, please contact
the customer support center for assistance.
