OpenVMS Galaxy instances and system time?

» close window

The Question is:

If running Galaxy on a 4140 with two OpenVMS instances, what processor has
control over the system clock? Is there only one system clock or one per
instance, and can each instance run with a separate date/time?

The Answer is :

All OpenVMS Galaxy instances executing within the AlphaServer 4100 share
access to the system clock. If one instance changes the system time, this
change will effect all instances executing within the system.

The AlphaServer 8400 supports multiple system clocks, and each OpenVMS
Galaxy instance can have a different view of the local system time.

Note: systems with disparate times cannot coexist in an OpenVMS Cluster.
