Unable to get to DECwindows login?

The Question is:

 
When I install alpha 7.0 on my alpha station
 200 4/100 I am not able to get to a logon screen.
My system works fine with vms 6.2. I can logon if
I boot minmum.
 
 

The Answer is :

 
  The Wizard would encourage upgrading to OpenVMS Alpha V7.1.
 
  Determine if the settings of the various parameters are correct for
  DECwindows.  This includes an AUTOGEN pass, as well as checking to
  see if WINDOW_SYSTEM is set (as it should be) to 1.
 
  Acquire and install DECwindows V1.2-3 or (better) V1.2-4, and acquire
  and install the associated ECO kit for the release.
 
  Acquire and install the current version of Open3D for your OpenVMS
  version and for your particular graphics controller.
 
  If problems persist, please contact the customer support center.
  Expect to be asked for details of your configuration, including
  the graphics controller, memory, DECwindows version, ECO status,
  and other considerations potentially related to this area.
