VAXstation 3100 system disk capacity limit? (FAQ)

The Question is:

 
I've only recently become aware of the 1 GB disk size limitation for
VAXstation 3100's.
Does this mean that larger disks just won't work or that only 1 GB will be
usable? Please help - I've got several 2 GB disks on order and may need to
stop the purchase!
