OpenVMS and Cisco Etherchannel?

» close window

The Question is:

Would you be able to find out if the 8400's and OpenVMS will work with
the Intel Pro 10/100 Dual Port Server Adapter??

This NIC has dual 10/100 interfaces which supports Cisco's Fast
Etherchannel. Each card can support up to 400Mbps full-duplex, so to
get 800 Mbps you need two NICs. These NIC's have drivers for Netware,
NT, Unix, and Solaris.

The Answer is :

If you have need for a connection to Cisco "Etherchannel" or to this
particular Intel controller, please contact your reseller or your Compaq
  sales representative directly.

The Wizard is not in a position to discuss future support plans for
this device or for Cisco "Etherchannel". There is support for a variety
of new network devices in various stages of planning or development.

The "Intel Pro 10/100 Dual Port Server Adapter" device is very likely
not directly supported under OpenVMS Alpha -- very few third-party
adapters are explicitly supported by OpenVMS. For information on the
currently supported devices, see the OpenVMS Software Product Description
and the Systems and Options Catalog.

The CPU architecture specified in your question is VAX, and there are
no VAX systems that support PCI. Your text appears to indicate the
system in question is the AlphaServer 8400, an Alpha system -- the
Wizard will assume the system in question is the AlphaServer 8400.
