Remote access to documentation?

» close window

The Question is:

How can I setup bookreader to access the
documentation over network (Workstation should
get access to the CDROM's in the server) ?

The Answer is :

There are two problems with remote access -- the first is serving the
disk volume to the remote system through one or more of the mechanisms
available in your local configuration. The second, and less obvious,
is the ability to access the contents of the Bookreader files using
  application(s) on the client system.

You can mount the documentation CD-ROM within a cluster, and access
the files remotely. You may well be able to use other mechanisms to
serve the contents of the volume to other client systems, as well.

Alternatively, you can acquire the OpenVMS V7.2 field test (or the
documentation for the OpenVMS V7.2 release when it becomes available)
and use the provided HTML-format documentation. The CD-ROM for the
V7.2 release is accessable in the traditional ODS2 volume format and
in the ISO9660 volume format -- the latter volume format and the use
of HTML means the OpenVMS documentation is accessable via a web browser
  on UNIX or PC platforms.

The V7.2 field test is available for US$40, under part QA-MT3AD-H8.
