Determining which ECOs have been installed?

» close window

The Question is:

How can I find out what vms software patches
have been installed on our system.
We are running OpenVMS v5.5-2H4

The Answer is :

There is no reliable mechanism on OpenVMS VAX, other than looking
up the kit release notes files for the kits in SYS$HELP:.

On OpenVMS Alpha, use the SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL.HISTORY file and
  the PCSI PRODUCT commands.

In OpenVMS Alpha V7.1-2 and later, OpenVMS ECO kits change over to
PCSI installations -- these kits will not be installed with VMSINSTAL,
and will not be listed in SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL.HISTORY. (Use the
PRODUCT SHOW PRODUCT/FULL and PRODUCT SHOW HISTORY/FULL commands.)

On an OpenVMS VAX release after V7.2, OpenVMS VAX VMSINSTAL will
likely be extended to provide support for a VMSINSTAL.HISTORY file.

Compaq services offers a service that can inventory the software
installed on a system, if that is of interest.
