Paper tray selection on HP printers?

» close window

The Question is:

I have a HP8000 . What are the possible reasons that I cannot print to tray
4 in this printer. It shows up in properties and is plugged in.
Thanks

The Answer is :

There is not enough information here to provide a specific answer.

First, verify that the printer is operating correctly. Ensure that
all paper trays are positioned correctly, and particularly ensure that
the microswitch is correctly engaged for paper tray 4. (Failure to
correctly engage the microswitch found near the paper tray(s) on most
printers can cause a printer to not detect the paper tray, to require
manually feeding the paper, or various other misbehaviour.)

For assistance with the operations of an HP printer, and to check that
the HP printer firmware is current, please contact your hardware support
organization or contact HP support directly. (The HP LaserJet 8000
series printer usually requires firmware "19980610 MB4.28" or later,
  check with HP for details.)

If the printer is operating correctly and the problem persists (and thus
the problem appears to be related to software or communications), please
contact the Compaq Customer Support Center -- expect to be asked for
information on the software you are using to connect to and print to
the printer, as well as how you are attempting to select the paper
  tray, etc.
