ALPY2K02_062 vs ALPY2K01_062?

» close window

The Question is:

Patch kit ALPY2K02_062 supersedes ALPY2K01_062 (the Alpha/VMS 6.2 Y2K
"enhancement" kit on the Year 2000 Readiness CDROM).
I have already installed ALPY2K01_062. Can ALPY2K02_062 be installed over
it?
Better yet, since the difference is reputedly very small (i.e. something
about "correctly" replacing LBRSHR.EXE in IMAGELIB.OLB), is there a manual
fix that can be done to reach the ALPY2K02_062 level?

The Answer is :

If you are asking this question, the Wizard would generally recommend
  simply installing the new kit.

Per the ECO text for ALPY2K02_062:

Kits VAXY2K02_062 and ALPY2K02_062 supersede kits VAXY2K01_062 and
ALPY2K01_062. The new kits are identical to the superseded kits except
that kits VAXY2K02_062 and ALPY2K02_062 also correctly replace image
  LBRSHR.EXE in SYS$COMMON:[SYSLIB]IMAGELIB.OLB. Kit VAXY2K02_062 also
contains a fix that correctly installs F11BXQP.EXE in [SYSEXE].

Please see previous discussions of LBRSHR here in Ask The Wizard for
information on the commands necessary to insert the LBRSHR image into
the IMAGELIB shareable image library. Relocation of the XQP image
could be achieved with a COPY command to the appropriate directory.
(A reboot would be required to load the newly-relocated image.)
