MAIL login information invalid?

» close window

The Question is:

We have been running DECnet Phase IV on a MicroVAX 3100/95 running OpenVMS
v7.1. Things had been working fine until Pathworks v5.0f for OpenVMS was
installed. Since that time, we have not been able to e-mail any users on
3100/95 and we are unable to copy
files from 3100/95 to any remote node. The error that we are getting when
sending e-mail is: MAIL-E-LOGLINK, error creating network link to node INL.
It also says that the login information at the remote node is invalid.

Can you please HELP!!!! I have checked NCP and the UAF and can find no
logical explanation.

Thanks in advance.

The Answer is :

It would appear that the username or the password specified in the MAIL
object entry for the MAIL server username in the DECnet Phase IV NCP
database is incorrect. The MAIL server username is configured in the
DECnet Phase IV NCP object database -- enable BYPASS privilege before
entering NCP to check this -- using the NCP SHOW OBJECT command to
display the current setting and using both the SET and DEFINE OBJECT
commands to alter the setting. Confirm that these entries match the
values set in SYSUAF, and that the specified MAIL username in SYSUAF
  is enabled and fully operational.
