Altering FTP file attribute defaults?

The Question is:

 
Hello,
 
Is there a procedure for changing the fixed length file size attribute from
the default of 512 bytes when using FTP binary transfer ?
 
We are currently running UCX V4.2(no ECO patch)
under openVMS on a Vax 6620 platform.

The Answer is :

 
  The FTP transfer size is 512 bytes, and there is no way to change this
  by default.
 
  Various commands such as SET FILE/ATTRIBUTES and certain OpenVMS versions
  of zip utilities can be used to reset or to preserve attributes.  OpenVMS
  Freeware V4.0 includes a command procedure (located in [000TOOLS]) that
  can reset various corrupted BACKUP saveset file attributes, potentially
  allowing BACKUP to again correctly access the saveset.
