KZQSA SCSI device support?

» close window

The Question is:

Will a standard KZQSA SCSI adapter on a VAX
400-300 support a TZ87 as a second drive
daisy-chained off of a TLZ07? This adapter
supports multiple tape drives, but COMPAQ
will not guarantee that the TZ87 is supported.
Won't it at least see it as a generic SCSI
device? If so, VMS Backup should be able to
write to it!

The Answer is :

I believe you already have your answer: "COMPAQ will not guarantee that
  the TZ87 is supported."

The OpenVMS Wizard does not believe that this particular configuration
has been tested -- the KZQSA is a relatively slow SCSI interconnect,
and recent DLT devices are rather fast SCSI devices. The usual SCSI
interconnect for this configuration was the HSD05 or HSD10 series,
  via a DSSI connection.
