LAT Service Classes?

» close window

The Question is:

What are the LAT service classes ? When I use the LATCP command SHO NODE it
tells me which ones I have, but I have not been able to find a list of what
they are. Most of my systems have service class 1, my InfoServer 1000 has
1-2 and some of my OpenVMS
systems have 3 and 4. I reckon 3 and 4 are related to LAT as a transport
for X11. I've looked in the HELP for SHOW NODE and the examples don't show
service classes at all. They seem to be there in V6.2 which is the oldest
version we have. They don't
get reported on Tru64 Unix (OSF1).

The Answer is :

The LAT Service Class field in the SHOW NODE display indicates which
service classes are enabled on the local node.

  Typical LAT Service Classes include:

    1 - Character cell terminals
    3 - LAT X sessions
    4 - X font load through LAT

Service Class 1 is always enabled it is the service class associated
  with character cell terminal traffic.

If you choose to run X Windows sessions using a LAT transport on your
system, then service class 3 will show up as enabled.

If you configure your system to provide the LAT X font daemon, then
  Service class 3 will appear.
